Large Dog Costumes: Don't Let Your Large Breed Dog Miss Out On The Fun!
For as many small dogs who enjoy being the center of attention by wearing costumes, large dog costumes have also caught on. We dog owners love treating our beloved canine friends as part of our family. We take them jogging, to the park, in the car, and to our jobs -- and a lot of friend/family gatherings are pet friendly. On some occasions, this includes dressing your dog in a costume or outfit, especially on Halloween.
There are many large dog costumes that are so obviously appropriate for the individual breed that it can be a very easy choice. A dalmatian dressed as a firefighter will look very natural and spiffy, especially with red accents on the costume. Who would not look twice at your German Shepherd in a police uniform? Consider too the inconspicuous large dog costumes like Tinkerbell or a pair of little pink bunny pajamas to fit your larger breed female dogs. A cute sailor suit for your large boy dog would be adorable.
Whatever costume you choose make sure that it suits your dog's personality and breed. If you have a rowdy dog, a fairy princess is probably not your best pick. Instead try a cheerleader or court jester. A large, reddish-color dog who wears a jack o' lantern costume looks very appealing as the color tends to match their coat. You may also wish to base your dog's costume on what you enjoy. If your hobby is music, create a famous rock star look for your dog.
If you want to do something different this year, contact some of your friends with dogs and plan a themed Halloween party for all of you and invite the dogs as well. An example could be a themed Star Wars party. You could designate one owner to be C-3PO and the dog to come as R2-D2. There are many choices in large dog costumes so this can be done with many different themes, including Disney characters, Super Heroes or cartoons. Or consider an old fashioned classic Halloween costume ball with skeletons, devils and witches.
Whatever large dog costume you choose for your larger breed dog, make sure the costume is safe and comfortable for him or her. If the dogs prefer to take the costume off after an hour of fun, let them. You can always dress them up again if you need to snap more pictures.
